SHERAdigital launches own website and online shop

Overview

The SHERA B2B shop has been successful on the internet since 2005. Over the years it has been expanded and updated many times. With a younger target group for the SHERAdigital product line in mind, an independent SHERAdigital website including shop and service functions was planned. The website was to have a completely distinct design. The machines and associated consumables were to be presented with much more information than the regular Shera products. The website also offers services, and a blog has been set up to provide users with a platform for exchanging information.

The solution in detail

silver.e-shop is equipped with comprehensive multi-shop capabilities. Within the existing shop installation a new shop was set up for SHERAdigital.

The shop has a real-time connection to Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Basic data about the digital products are obtained from the ERP. The extensive additional content, however, is administered in the shop backend via the Enterprise Content Management System eZ Publish. In the CMS, Shera is able to manage detailed texts as well as downloads, videos, photos and other media. 

As a special feature, Shera was equipped with a single sign-on function and a multi-shop shopping basket. Customers can use the same login for both Shera.de and SHERAdigital.de. The required products are collected in a shopping basket for both shops. The order will be completed in the shop in which the order is in fact made and transmitted to the ERP system.

In addition to physical products, services and webinars can also be booked at SHERAdigital. A separate process was implemented to book webinars. This booking feature is available to both anonymous and registered customers. Only registered customers can order services.
Given the complexity and the consulting services associated with the purchase of investment goods, machines cannot be ordered directly – instead, a price inquiry can be made.

A blog has been set up to give users the opportunity to exchange information. eZ Publish provides the relevant roles and rights management functionality.

The result

Nowadays, younger, tech-savvy B2B customers expect the same extensive information and services online that they know from B2C commerce. SHERAdigital provides a separate product area with extensive additional information about the complex products, online service orders and contemporary forms of contact and interactive features. By using the silver.e-shop as a multi-shop system existing data and processes can still be used, and only relevant additional information and functions had to be added. This product area can now be presented in a new design.
