Online shop for mobile devices for C & J Direct GmbH & Co. KG

Overview

The aim of the project was to set up a B2B online shop. The shop is connected to the Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP system via the B2B-Connector and the integrated CMS offers the additional option of entering articles.
Besides standard shop functions like catalogue, cart and ordering process, the shop various additional functions which include document management, express orders and a download section.

The solution in detail

In addition to standard shop functions such as catalogue, shopping cart and order process, the shop also offers:

  • Document management
  • Express order
  • Download area
  • Newsletter system
  • News (with filter option after 10,20,30 days)
  • Customer article numbers

The online shop was initially set up in German and English. Other languages can be implemented later. For editorial texts that are maintained via the editorial system (e.g. start page, imprint, contact), a translation function is available in the CMS. Article data imported from Navision must already be maintained in several languages in the ERP system.

Article data is imported from Microsoft Dynamics NAV into the shop. The navigation in the product catalogue maps the structure from Navision (2-level according to article categories and product groups). Information on prices and availability (exact number of items) is retrieved from the ERP system at runtime. In the product detail, various views of the product are offered via the Simpleviewer (if available).

New products are displayed under the item "News". The user can filter by time period, i.e. products of the last 5, 10, 20 or 30 days. This information is read out via a special date field in Navision. For registered users, a list in csv format is also available for download.
C&J Direct's customers work with their own article numbers. Therefore, the shop contains the field "Customer article number" in the order form and in the shopping basket. This allows the customer to order with their own article number and the shop determines the matching article number from C&J Direct.

Another special feature in the shop is the allocation of accessories via a comparison table. This is helpful for customers because a mobile phone model is sold under a different name by each supplier. In this way, all models for which an item is suitable can be displayed in the product detail of the shop.

In the service area of the shop, the registered user can maintain his profile data. In addition, a document history with information on invoices, arrears, credit notes, etc. is available to him here. Known products can be ordered quickly and conveniently via the express order form using the known article numbers or debtor article number. Registered users also have access to a download area where supplementary product material from individual manufacturers is offered as a PDF download.

The phplist newsletter system has been implemented for e-mail marketing. C&J Direct regularly sends out product announcements by e-mail. In order to retrieve this information (product data) directly from the CMS, the newsletter system was extended accordingly and linked to the shop. The newsletter can be sent in German as well as in English.
