Overview

The aim of the project was to connect the Magento based online shop to the customer’s ERP system. A special challenge was the implementation of many extensions to the Magento interface developed by silver.solutions.

The solution in detail

Magento is used as a shop solution, which, as ordered by the customer, was installed and configured by a team of Magento specialists. silver.solutions delivered the B2B-Connector as well as the special Magento interface that connects the shop with Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The interface allows you to seamlessly transfer orders and new customer data from Magento to NAV. Master data can be imported and regularly adjusted.

In collaboration with the MS Dynamics partner anaptis and a Magento team of developers, silver.solutions, on customer request, has made extensive adjustments to the interfaces and the shop. One of the challenges was to directly assign orders to customer numbers from Magento. Usually, Magento works with its own customer IDs and knows customer numbers through the relevant mapping. For this reason, we have decided to identify customers using their email addresses in Magento as well as in NAV. Via the email address, orders can now be assigned to their associated customer number. For new customers a contact and an associated order is created when the order is transferred to NAV. Furthermore, status reports on payment and delivery as well as the transaction numbers of the payment providers are compared between Magento and the ERP. A feature comparing stock between the Magento shop and Microsoft Dynamics NAV was also implemented. Records from NAV are transferred to Magento, as is the dispatch tracking number.

The result

By extending the interface for Magento, data are matched between web shop and ERP. This helps improve processes at TAMMIT.COM and makes duplicate data storage redundant. The automatic matching of data also ensures greater security and consistency of customer and order data. Users of the web shop benefit from the extension. The shop and in the online customer account provides them with much additional information that they would not have access to without connection to the ERP.
